About

Our Beliefs

Ambassador Presbyterian belongs to a family of churches, the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, whose roots go back to the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century. Below is a summary of those truths that we hold dear.

  • We believe there is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God the Father is the Sovereign Creator, Sustainer and Ruler of the universe. Jesus the Son is the only Redeemer of mankind. The Holy Spirit is the gracious initiator who enables Christian life and growth.
  • We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and life.
  • We believe that all people are sinners having fallen short of God's glory and having failed to keep God's commands. As sinners, we are totally unable to save ourselves from God’s displeasure and judgment, except by His mercy.
  • We believe that salvation is by God’s grace alone according to His sovereign will and purpose, given as a gift to those He chooses, not based on any individual merit, or foreseen faith.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life fulfilled God's demands of righteousness, through his sacrificial death satisfied God's justice for sin, and through his resurrection secures eternal life on behalf of all who trust in Him alone, for salvation.
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God’s people and gives us the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.
  • We believe that God is gracious and faithful to His people not simply as individuals but as families in successive generations according to His Covenant promises.
  • We believe that the church is the people of God, the body of Christ, the instrument through which He demonstrates His grace, displays His glory, and dispenses His gospel to the world.
  • We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.
  • We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
  • While God's word, the Bible is our only ultimate and inerrant authority, we also look to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms as a summary of the teachings of the Bible.

We are Presbyterian in our leadership structure being led by pastors called by the congregation to the ministry of the Word, elders elected by the congregation to oversee the spiritual nurture of the people, and deacons elected to care for physical and material needs.

We practice the two sacraments instituted by Jesus: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is given to believers and their children as a sign of God's covenant promise of redemption, and the Lord's Supper is open to all who have publicly professed their faith in Jesus Christ.
